The structures of Sandlantis are designed to be more than just visually striking; they are functional, reflecting an understanding of the harsh environment in which they stand. Each building, from the stage to the school, serves a purpose — not only providing shelter for the fictional inhabitants of the city, but also facilitating the flow of festival activities while enhancing the overall experience.
The city’s layout is thoughtfully planned to encourage exploration, with hidden spaces, terraces, balconies and communal areas where ravers can gather, rest, and connect. The use of sand and wood throughout the design ties the city to its environment, creating a cohesive aesthetic that feels both natural and intentional.
In the heart of a desolate world, where the oceans have dried and the earth is parched, there lies a city unlike any other—Sandlantis. It is a place born from myth and necessity, a final refuge built upon the last great reservoir of life-giving water. Sandlantis is not just a city; it is the last breath of hope for humanity, where stories and structures intertwine to create a living legend.
In Sandlantis, light is as crucial as water. The city comes alive at night, illuminated by a carefully designed lighting system that not only enhances its architectural beauty but also adds depth to its story. The lights in Sandlantis are not just functional—they are integral to the city’s identity, casting long shadows and creating a play of light that brings the desert landscape to life.
Soft, ambient lighting is used to highlight the natural textures of wood and sand, while strategic spotlights draw attention to key elements of the city, such as the towering Water Tower or the bustling streets of the marketplace. The use of light and shadow helps to create an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue, inviting visitors to explore Sandlantis after dark, when the city reveals its true character .
